Greetings from the freezing Windy City..... WOW... is it cold now. It happens every year, and you'd think we would all be ready for it, but no!

If I hadn't met Ed Baird and Hamish Ross, crew and defenders of the America's Cup, Team Alinghi, and attended a press conference with Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, the authors/creators of Miss Saigon and Les Mis....... and heard all four gentleman talk about their lives and their respective "crafts"....well, then this weather might just bother me.

But in light of my month so far.... bring on the cold.

Life is good. Hope you are all doing well.

Just a quick update, and to confirm that yes I did end up doing all those things this weekend as I had hoped.

What a great city...... thank you Chicago, for reminding me that life is so much more than we think it is.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN !!!! How does it feel to be 29..... again.... Hope you have a great weekend! Love you!

I live in a great city. There is just nothing like this place. I got this feeling last night, like I do a few times a year, where I felt so incredibly lucky to be in Chicago. I am so grateful to those who supported me coming here. I had no reason to move here, no job, no family or friends.... but I knew I needed to be here for some reason. and it wasn't easy.... at all! I remember being so frustrated at how different it was just to go grocery shopping and get to and from work every day. Its a completely different way to live, and it took some adjusting. And even now it beats me down from time to time..... but its all worth it.

In the next 72 hours I will have gone to a movie where they serve cocktails and smoking is permitted, eaten a great cheeseburger way too late in the evening, seen a production of Hamlet for free, eaten some kind of ethnic food way too late in the evening again, danced at a gay bar and watched man-ladies sing show tunes, had breakfast or lunch on Michigan Avenue across from the world famous Playboy building and kitty-corner from Oprah's condo, probably see another movie while enjoying the spirit of my choice, visited the actual Lions of Tsavo, seen antiquities from ancient Egypt, an exhibit on the dinosaurs, one of the greatest aquariums in the world and fish some people will never see, sit and pray in one of the most beautifully crafted, and one of the only 8, Bahai temples on this planet, shopped the open markets for anything you can imagine in China Town, and had some authentic chinese food prepared by people that have lived here all their lives and still only speak chinese, eaten at Ron of Japan (the best food I have ever tasted in my 31 years) where someone will prepare lobster and a filet right at the table, window shopped down Michigan Avenue at night, and maybe do a load of two of laundry...... to name a few.
And all without ever being more than 5 miles away from home......

So to those that have never been here, or any big city for that matter, come visit. It just may change your life.

Have a great weekend everyone. And happy birthday again to Jenny Craig (Fischer), I love and miss you woman!
Cheers all,

It's cold now... and I remember why I want to go live on an island somewhere. Besides the getting away from everyone and everything.... the warm weather is a close second in motivation. If it wasn't for the bugs I'd be gone already.

Go see the movie "Jar head". Well, if you are pro-military and are into those kinds of things. Its not a war movie, which is what makes it so good. its a movie about being in the military, and shows a side that most of us would never know about unless you were close to someone in there. Even if you are NOT pro-military, it may help you understand that even some of those guys are not either, and you have no choice but to respect what they have to go through and what kind of life they have to lead in order for the rest of us to sleep soundly at night. if you don't even get that out of it, then please stop reading my blog because you are close minded and soul-less and we would have nothing to talk about so let's not pretend to be friends.....

That was harsh... but so am I sometimes.

Nothing new to report... and nothing in my head needing to come out on the page..... only work stuff, and no one wants to read about how ridiculous and snooty and obnoxious wealthy people are.....

Good times !

Sorry all, I know the site has slowed down, I've just been really busy lately. That's a good thing, especially this time of year for me.

It's been a while since I've posted a good Grace picture, so here you go..... I wish I had her life sometimes. Besides the bland food and limited surroundings, I think she has it pretty good. Although the raccoon is a bit too devoted to her, and visits more than he should. I have tried to explain to her that inter-racial relationships just don't work and it will only lead to heartbreak....... so I think she is learning, and stays away from the window at night to shun his advances. He'll give up soon, they all do.......

I can't believe its November...... not in a "wow, time flies" kind of way.... but is 70 degrees outside tonight! I would say my usual god bless global warming, but the more I think about it I realize the universe is going in its own direction, and who the hell knows what will happen to the climates in my lifetime.... and that opens up the whole "what does it all mean" and "how small we all are" kind of crap that goes through my head 20 times on any given Wednesday.... and I just need to NOT think about that for a while. see if it relaxes me at all. Maybe that's why I want to trade places with Grace.... just look at her.... as long as there is food in her bowl and someone to annoy, she's happy. We could learn a lot from a cat.......
